Tetrodotoxin in xanthid crab Demania reynaudii implicated to poisoning in Vietnam

A severe poisoning case with typical paralysis symptoms was reported in Tinh Gia District, Thanh Hoa Province, Vietnam on 27 March 2021 by consumption of some marine crabs. Two specimens as remaining suspected poisonous food were collected for toxin analysis. Based on recorded poisoning symptoms, tetrodotoxins and saxitoxins in crab specimens which identified as belonging to Demania reynaudii were examined in HILIC/MS-MS. As result, TTX (14.02 and 14.80 g/g), 4epi-TTX (3.40 and 7.12 g/g) and Anh-TTX (40.00 and 55.75 g/g) was detected in the extracts from two specimens. Toxicity in the specimens (174.6 and 194.5 MU/g) were much higher than consumption level for TTXs (10 MU/g) suggested in Japan. A consumption of 2 big specimens (137 g b.w.) or 5 small ones (71.2 g b.w.) containing these toxicity was enough to cause poisoning even fatal for human. It is indicated that xanthid crab D. reynaudii is not safe for food. The present study confirmed TTX was toxin implicated to poisoning by consumption of D. reynaudii in Tinh Gia District, Thanh Hoa Province on 27 March 2021, and it was the first report about this TTX bearing-crab species in Vietnam.

A comprehensive review on versatility of power tiller

The large number of farmers (86%) of India comes under small and marginal category. They cannot afford large size equipment like tractors and tractor drawn implements with their meagre income. On the other hand, power tillers are comparatively less costly and are versatile machines by which a large number of farm operations can be performed. It is simple in maintenance and operator can easily repair it on site without much skill. The external attachments are available or can be developed as per the nature of work. The power tiller is suitable in hilly regions particularly on bench terraces, small paddy fields with steep bunds, interculture and spraying operation in the crops with row spacing less than 1 m and in vegetable cultivation in plain region. On mountains, power tillers achieve better work performance and precise use than four-wheel tractors due to light in weight which suits for hilly territory. This study was conducted to generate a representative scenario of the status of the power tiller in India and analyze the research conducted regarding uses of power tiller in cultivation and other activities, suitability for hilly terrain, ergonomics perspectives and constraints in popularization of power tiller. The study reveals the versatility of power tiller to complete the farm operations, post disaster and agro-forest management related activities timely with increased production, productivity and reduced associated drudgery.

Back-Propagtion Neural Neural Network controller for Two-Mass System

The purpose of this paper is to present the design, the math model, the result simulation, and discussion of a back-propagation neural network (BB-NN) for a two-mass system. The aim is to controller design simply and control the actual angular speed matching with the reference angular speed, lead to reduces the resonance oscillation at shaft between motor and load. BP-NN controller is designed based on the backward propagation of errors and training artificial neural networks are used in combination with an optimized method as gradient descent. This method calculates the gradient of the loss function with all the relevant weighting in the neural network. This gradient is fed into the optimization method, which uses it to update the weights, to minimize the loss function. The efficiency of the BB-NN control method is verified by HIL real-time simulation.

An Evaluation of Turkey’s Renewable Energy Using WASPAS, Fuzzy TOPSIS and MULTIMOORA Methods

Energy is currently one of the most fundamental resources that countries need for economic and social development. Energy needs are increasing day by day as a result of increasing population, global growth and industrialization. However, fossil fuels used to meet this increasing energy demand are gradually decreasing. Therefore, it is necessary for countries to benefit from clean, cheap and easily available energy resources in order to compete economically. For this reason, Renewable Energy (RE) sources are widely used today as an alternative to traditional energy sources. Consequently, multi-criteria decision-making methods have been used in this study to evaluate criteria, such as the availability of renewable energy resources in Turkey, initial installation costs, continuity and efficiency, together. The multi-criteria decision making methods used in this study were WASPAS, Fuzzy TOPSIS and MULTIMOORA, which have frequently featured in published literature over recent years. It is aimed to give Turkey to a more sustainable future in this area by focusing on the evaluation of renewable energy sources. The study is intended to be a valuable resource for renewable energy scientists and for future studies.

Reading Behaviour of Farmers in Sonipat District (Haryana), India

Agricultural modernization is possible when farm innovations are disseminated and reached effectively to its stakeholders through various communication media and channels. Print medium has great potential to change attitude and skills about new agricultural technology among farming community and motivating farmers to adopt new innovations. India had realized the power of printed media for the benefit of farming community. The use of print media as a potent source of information depends on the reading behavior of farmers. Therefore, present study was conducted using survey method in the state of Haryana with a sample size of 120 farmers to know the various dimensions of reading behavior in response to selected farm magazines and newspapers. The study revealed that majority of the farmers had low to medium level of reading behavior status with regard to farm magazines and newspapers. As far as awareness regarding name, more number of farmers were aware about the name of ‘Haryana Kheti’ and ‘Krishi Sanvad’ published by CCSHAU, Hisar and Information and Public Relations Department, Haryana, respectively, ‘Dainik Jagran’, ‘Dainik Bhaskar’, ‘Hari Bhoomi’ and ‘Punjab Keshri’ were found popular among farmers and few farmers were found aware about the newspaper ‘Kheti Duniya’, which exclusively publish agricultural and development news. The majority of farmers did not preserve farm information, however, they simply memorized and discussed it with fellow farmers and family members. All the personal and socio-psychological attributes except age were found to have positive correlation with the reading behavior of the farmers under study.
